My family and I are survivors of the Highland Park parade shooting. Days later, alongside Emily Lieberman (founder of Oncall4kids), my childhood best friend, we traveled to Washington, DC to lobby for an assault weapons ban with March Fourth. Since the inception of Oncall4kids, it has been a privilege to assist in galvanizing the medical community as we work to pass gun legislation that will save children’s lives. As a survivor and also an advocate who has met several times with members of Congress, it has become apparent that science should guide policy regarding gun violence prevention.
