Sheena McKenzie is a board-certified pediatric hospitalist in Chicago. She received her medical degree from Albany Medical College in Albany, NY and then went on to complete pediatric residency and chief residency at the University of Florida – Jacksonville, Wolfson Children’s Hospital. She completed a fellowship in pediatric hospital medicine at Baylor College of Medicine/Texas Children’s Hospital where she focused on quality improvement research for hospitalized children.

Sheena has always had a passion for advocacy and gun violence harm reduction. In June of 2022, after the mass shooting in a Tulsa medical office, she organized a rally with a group of physicians in Evanston, IL. Almost exactly 1 month later, she was a first responder at Highland Park Hospital after the July 4 mass shooting. She contributed to the medical care for the pediatric victims of the shooting, witnessing first-hand the devastating implications of being wounded by a fragment of shrapnel.
Shortly thereafter, Sheena joined March Fourth and became a physician co-lead within their medical outreach committee. She is now actively involved with On Call 4 Kids. Sheena has traveled to Washington DC to advocate for the passage of an assault weapons ban and was selected as a speaker for the Protect Illinois communities Doctor Coalition Press Conference where she spoke in support of gun safety legislation in Illinois. She has been interviewed by local radio and TV media outlets as well as by The Hospitalist magazine.
